Scholarship

My name is Adam Woods and I am the Awards Chair for the University of Alberta Fraternity Phi Gamma Delta.  Phi Gamma Delta is a Fraternity dedicated to the principles of friendship, knowledge, service, morality and excellence.  We take part in a lot of community service and fundraising for charity.  In March we successfully saw three members of our Fraternity take on the roles of Vice President Student-Life, Vice President External, and Vice President Academic on the University of Alberta Students’ Union.  We also have just witnessed five of our brothers being elected to Student Union Council and General Faculties Council.  We are very proud of our dedication to our community, and are always looking for ways to improve it.

One of the things we do is offer a scholarship every year.  It is called the Johnathan Doody Memorial Scholarship, and it commemorates a deceased brother who was tragically killed in a car accident in 1993.  Since then, we’ve been giving out this award.  It is for males only, enrolling in the University of Alberta in the Fall 2011 semester.  It gives out three awards with a cash value of $500.  Applicants who are being considered for the award will be contacted for an interview in August.  The application can be sent in the mail to:  Awards Committee. 11009 89 Ave.  Edmonton, AB.  T6G OZ7.  Or, the application can be sent to the email: .  If the application is being mailed, we will be accepting post dates applications which arrive late.   Applications will be accepted in both French and English, however interviews will be primarily done in English.  The application is attached to this email, and the same application page should be used if the candidate is submitting their application via email.   Please pass on this application to your students.  If you have any questions regarding the Fraternity or our values, please phone our house at 1780-432-1162 and ask for Adam.  If I am unavailable, please leave your phone number and name, and I will contact you as soon as possible.
