Hey all!
So this weekend wasn’t as event filled as our last weekend, but it was just as fun.
What better way to end a week of school than with some pumpkin carving?!
Friday we had an exchange with the lovely ladies of Pi Beta Phi (Alberta-Alpha). During this exchange FIJI’s and Pi Phi’s put their creative minds to work, and carved out over 20 pumpkins. For some it was their first time ever carving a pumpkin and they wished they had done it sooner! For other more “seasoned veterans”, they used their carving “expertise” to carve out some intricate designs. We had quite the variety of pumpkins ranging from words, and traditional pumpkins, to stenciled out Hello Kitty ones, and even an owl!
Shortly after the carving festivities, another Halloween themed event took place: Horror movies! The FIJI’s and Pi Phi’s braved it out, and endured two movies, which were frightening and also entertaining. Finally we wrapped up the evening by making use of the innards of the carved pumpkins via Pumpkin Pie. A few FIJI’s and Pi Phi’s worked hard in the kitchen producing 6 delicious pumpkin pies, and several pumpkin seeds.
All in all, no one was disappointed in the festivities, and the FIJI and Pi Phi houses have several pumpkins to proudly display come Halloween on Monday!
Next up costumes:
Though Halloween is on the Monday, it did not deter many of us FIJI’s from dressing up for the weekend! We had people “occupying wall street”, “locked out NBA players”, Banana’s in Pyjama’s, Morph-suits, Indiana Jones, bearded men, and much more traditional, or witty costumes.
We hope that many of these costumes make a return on Monday, when it is actually Halloween so that Halloween Trick-or-Treatery will be fun for all!
Press on!
